Perception of Tenasserim in Thai Historiography about the Ayutthaya Period

Abstract
This article explores the perception of Tenasserim in Thai historiography about the Ayutthaya period It starts with an overview of the history of Tenasserim in Thailand, historiography related to the Ayutthaya period from contemporary documents to various academic works, including research, books and articles. Perception of Tenasserim in Thai historiography about the Ayutthaya period can be divided into 3 main groups: 1. perception of Tenasserim's history in spatial dimensions, 2. perception of Tenasserim's history in political dimensions, and 3. perception of Tenasserim in literary dimensions. Much of the writing presents Tanintharyi as an important trading city in the western part of Ayutthaya.
