Ban Busaba: The Creation of Drama in Site Specific

Abstract

A theatre play, called Baan Busaba, is taught in undergraduate acting and directing classes under the Performing Arts Major in the Bachelor of Fine and Applied Arts Program with the purpose to write a stage play in the designated space at house number 93, Mueang Kao area on Nakhon Nok Road, Mueang District, Songkhla Province. The creative process consists of the following three steps. (1) The question and concept step involves looking around the house's interior to determine where the story starts and what each individual finds fascinating. The areas selected for the play including three areas: the bedroom in front of the house, the bathroom in the house, and a beauty salon. (2) The creative practice and experiment step pertains to converting a narrative into an audio drama as a presentation experiment (preview), allowing the audience to consider how the work might be developed during the real presentation round and analysing as well as reflecting on the results.
