Color Terms in Orang Laut Language of Phuket

Abstract

บทความนี้นำเสนอผลการศึกษาคำเรียกสีในภาษาอูรักลาโว้ยถิ่นภูเก็ต โดยสัมภาษณ์ผู้บอกภาษาซึ่งเป็นคนอูรักลาโว้ยจำนวน 6 คน เพศหญิง 4 คน และเพศชาย 2 คน เพื่อศึกษาคำเรียกสีพื้นฐาน คำเรียกสีไม่พื้นฐาน และวิธี การสร้างคำเรียกสีไม่พื้นฐานในภาษาอูรักลาโว้ยถิ่นภูเก็ต ผลการศึกษาพบว่า คำเรียกสีพื้นฐานในภาษาอูรักลาโว้ยถิ่นภูเก็ตมีจำนวน 8 สี คือ สีขาว ดำ แดง เขียว เหลือง เทา น้ำเงิน และฟ้า ส่วนคำเรียกสีไม่พื้นฐานมีจำนวน 4 สีตาม ทฤษฎีวิวัฒนาการ คือ ม่วง น้ำตาล ชมพู ส้ม และคำเรียกสีไม่พื้นฐานอื่นอีก หลายคำ โดยคำเรียกสีไม่พื้นฐาน มีวิธีการสร้างคำ 6 วิธี ได้แก่ คำเรียกสีพื้นฐาน ประสมกับคำบอกความเข้มสว่างของสี คำเรียกสีพื้นฐานประสมกับคำเรียก สีพื้นฐาน คำเรียกวัตถุสิ่งของมาใช้เป็นคำเรียกสี คำเรียกสีพื้นฐานประกอบกับ คำเรียกสิ่งของในธรรมชาติ คำเรียกสียืมจากภาษาไทย และคำเรียกสีพื้นฐาน ประกอบกับคำเรียกสิ่งของในธรรมชาติและคำขยาย

Color Terms in Orang Laut Language of Phuket

This article is a presentation of color terms in Orang Laut Language of Phuket. The data was collected from the interview 6 Orang Laut informants ; 4 female informants and 2 male informants for studying the basic color terms, non-basic color terms and word formation of non-basic color terms in Orang Laut. The study findings show that there are 8 basic color terms in Orang Laut : white, black, red, green, yellow, super blue, sky blue and grey. While purple, brown, pink, orange, silver, golden et al are non-basic color terms in Orang Laut. The 6 methods of non-basic color term’s word formation in Orang Laut : basic color terms plus word defined color’s darkness and lightness, basic color terms plus basic color terms, word defined things for calling mixed color, basic color terms plus word defined things, color terms of Thai loanword and basic color terms plus word defined things with modifier.
