Abstract

This paper aims to present ldentities of Melayu Muslims in Urban Yala , Talad Kouw and Sai Klang of Yala municipality, Yala Province was chosen as a case study. The research was conducted by a participatory action rcsearch observation and non sfucture interview This study was a basic research in accordance with research method of ield work involving participatory observatron and interaction with key informants via non sructurs interview, conservation, and the application of joint expeience as deemed appropriate to the circumstance concemed. The dam were then compiled into frndings, and frnally a report was undertaken on the indings in the form of analytical descriptive.
            The findings rcveal that the identity and social space construction of Melayu Muslims in Yala urban, in term of identity formation, the Melayu Muslims have variety of ways to form their identity. This identity formation procass was developed under its urban environment of Yala and the ethnic diversity of its population within its urban context and interaction of Malayu Muslims with other ethnic groups, interaction of Malayu Muslims with their neighbors as well as the relationship of Melayu Muslims with heir works and urban space.
             In telm of social space construction, the study reveals that Melayu Muslims both decided to face and avoid the social interaction of the people, in some circumstances, the reaction goes though contest and negotiation. Moreover, the co-existing of Melalyu Muslims themselves and the others in the identity construction spaces is the process of creating and accept the defnition, coding what they experience zurd interact with that can be static and dynamic.
