Abstract

Thai verse recitation is known for its rich variety, which is consequent
on the diversity of Thai poetic forms and devices. Together they ensure
the lasting impact created on the audience, the overall effects of which in
turn render it an art form highly unique as well as impressive especially when
compared to that of any nation. Such invaluable heritage is clearly the fruit
of Thai ancestors who devoted themselves indefatigably to the creation
and development of this art with wisdom. Posterity have thus been able to
enjoy and continue this tradition of Thai verse recitation, which is outstanding
not only in terms of the sounds produced but also because of the beauty
of the Thai language. The perfect combination is what makes it delightful,
praiseworthy, and popular all at once. This article aims to disseminate
knowledge on Thai verse recitation through the forthcoming publication of
Thai Verse Recitation with an Accompanying CD-ROM which records the
chanting of many Thai verses on the auspicious occasion of the sixtieth birth
anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on 2nd April,
2015.
