Abstract

This research aims to examine the current and desired services, as well as the students’ needs for the improvement of admission services at Mahidol University International College. The sample group for the questionnaire consisted of 177 first-year bachelor’s degree students in the first semester of the 2024 academic year, who also participated in both the written exam and the interview. The sample size was determined using Krejcie and Morgan’s sample size table. Additionally, eight students were selected for the interview sample. The research tools used were a questionnaire and an interview. The questionnaire was a standard five-point Likert scale with a reliability of .967. Data analysis methods included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Priority Needs Index Modified (PNImodified). For the interview data, thematic categorization was applied to organize the data based on consistency and differences, leading to descriptive conclusions. The findings revealed that, overall, the current state of services provided by the Admissions Unit at Mahidol University International College is rated at a high level ( = 4.38, S.D. = .54). The desired state of service is rated at the highest level ( = 4.51, S.D. = .49). Overall, the top priority need for improvement in services provided by the Admissions Unit at Mahidol University International College was the location and facilities, ranked first in importance (PNImodified = 0.0399). The need for information services was ranked second, followed by the application and examination procedures, and finally, the admissions unit staff was ranked as the least critical need.
