Development of Creative Products from Thai Phuan Ethnic Wisdom Handicrafts and Ritual for Enhance Ethnic Tourism, Nakhon Nayok Province

Abstract
This research aimed to develop creative products based on Thai Phuan ethnic identity wisdom in Pak Phli District, Nakhon Nayok Province, in order to enhance ethnic tourism. This study employed a mixed methodology, collecting data through qualitative research tools and participatory action research. The key informants are community leaders and Phuan community philosophers in Pak Phli District, Nakhon Nayok Province. The findings revealed that Pak Phli District, Nakhon Nayok Province consists of 5 ethnic groups. Thai Phuan ethnic group, the major group in Pak Phli District, lives in 4 out of 7 sub-districts. The cultural identity and wisdom of the Thai Phuan ethnicity are weaving, basketry, and blacksmithing. However, at present, only weaving and basketry remain. There are many important traditions, the outstanding one is Sud Suea Sud Pha tradition, which is an important identity of Thai Phuan people. The community would like to develop creative products to communicate the identity of weaving and basketry handicraft. The local wisdom concept “Ta Laew” was developed into community souvenirs and created Ta Laew patterns on hand-woven fabrics and linked it with Sud Sud Pha tradition. The community souvenirs were sold to visiting tourists and found that souvenir products from the wisdom of this community were very well responded.
