อิสลามกับสังคมไทย: บทบาทของงานเมาลิดกลางแห่งประเทศไทยที่มากกว่าพิธีกรรมทางศาสนา

บทคัดย่อ
งานเมาลิดกลางแห่งประเทศไทย มิได้เป็นเพียงพิธีกรรมทางศาสนา หากแต่เป็นกิจกรรมทางสังคมและการเมืองที่มีนัยสำคัญในบริบทพหุวัฒนธรรม งานวิจัยนี้มุ่งศึกษาบทบาทของงานเมาลิดกลางในการส่งเสริมอัตลักษณ์มุสลิม ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างศาสนาและรัฐ รวมถึงบทบาทของสถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์ในการสนับสนุนความหลากหลายทางศาสนา โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพผ่านการวิเคราะห์พร้อมสื่อร่วมสมัย ผลการศึกษาพบว่า งานเมาลิดกลางเป็นเวทีสำคัญในการธำรงอัตลักษณ์ทางศาสนาและวัฒนธรรมของชุมชนมุสลิม อีกทั้งยังเป็นพื้นที่สาธารณะที่เอื้อต่อการสื่อสารระหว่างศาสนาและสร้างความเข้าใจร่วมกันในสังคมไทย ผ่านกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ เช่น นิทรรศการ การแสดงศิลปวัฒนธรรม และการจำหน่ายอาหารฮาลาล นอกจากนี้ยังสะท้อนบทบาทของสถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์ที่ทรงให้ความสำคัญต่อชาวไทยมุสลิม ผ่านการเสด็จพระราชดำเนินหรือส่งผู้แทนพระองค์มาเป็นประธานพิธีเปิดอย่างต่อเนื่องตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2506 ซึ่งช่วยเสริมสร้างความไว้วางใจและความภาคภูมิใจในความเป็นพลเมือง การวิเคราะห์ภายใต้กรอบแนวคิดหน้าที่นิยมและความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างศาสนาและการเมือง ชี้ว่างานเมาลิดกลางทำหน้าที่เป็นกลไกเชิงสัญลักษณ์ในการส่งเสริมเอกภาพ เสถียรภาพ และความชอบธรรมของรัฐในสังคมพหุวัฒนธรรม ดังนั้น งานเมาลิดกลางจึงมิใช่เพียงพิธีกรรมทางศาสนา แต่เป็นภาพสะท้อนของการผสานความร่วมมือระหว่างศาสนา รัฐ และสถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์ในการธำรงสมดุลความหลากหลายของสังคมไทย
