The Development of Information Technology System of Logistics Cost Structure in Ornamental Fish Industry for Exporting of Thailand

Abstract

This research aimed to: (1) study logistics cost structure in ornamental fish industry for export of Thailand, (2) compare the practice of logistics activities in ornamental fish industry for export from Thailand to the United States of America and the People’s Republic of China, and (3) develop information technology system in logistics cost structure in ornamental fish industry for export of Thailand. Action research was applied in the research. Sample were 133 people consisting of farmers, collectors, and exporters. The research tools were questionnaire, in-depth interview and focus group. The data was analyzed in term of percentage, mean, standard deviation and the content analysis technique.


The results were indicated as follows;


1. Logistics cost structures were for ornamental farmers, collectors, exporters to the United States of America, exporters to the People’s Republic of China. An average of total logistics cost was 0.56 baht per fish, 0.84 baht per fish, 6.78 baht per fish, and 4.28 baht per fish respectively.


2. The results of a comparison the practice of logistics activities in ornamental industry for export of Thailand to the United States of America and the People’s Republic of China were similar practices and different practices in the view of ornamental fish farmers, collectors and exporters.


3. Information technology system in logistics cost structure in ornamental fish industry for export of Thailand consisted of three steps which are the analysis of the logistics cost structure in ornamental fish industry for export, design and implement.
