The Government Role in Thai Cosmetic Industry Potential Development

Abstract
This research article aims to (1) analyze general circumstance concerning the government roles, competitive potential and collaboration between government and private sector in Thai cosmetic industry’s potential development (2) study the influence of the government roles, competitive potential and collaboration between government and private sector on Thai cosmetic industry’s potential development and (3) propose a guideline for Thai cosmetic industry’s potential. This study was quantitative research and qualitative research. The population of the quantitative research were 2,899 owners of small and medium cosmetic business in Thailand. The sample size was 323. The questionnaire was employed as a data collection tool. Eight key informants were interviewed in the qualitative research. Data collection tool was interview script.
Findings are as follows: (1) The government roles, competitive potential and Thai cosmetic industry’s potential development were at a much level. Collaboration between government and private sector were at a medium level. (2) The government roles, competitive potential and collaboration between government and private sector have influenced on Thai cosmetic industry’s potential development. (3) Guideline for Thai cosmetic industry’s potential development in order to attain competitiveness at an international level was that the business owners should emphasize on creation of innovation, product development to create product differentiation and strength as well as online marketing strategy development to communicate to the world.
