Knowledge Management and Personnel Competency of Naval Public Works Department, Royal Thai Navy

Abstract

This research article aims to (1) study the knowledge management of Naval Public Works Department (2) study the competency of personnel of Naval Public Works Department (3) study the relationship between the knowledge management and the competency of personnel. (4) acquire knowledge management methods affecting the competency of personnel. The study population was 678 Interview was also conducted on 10 senior government servants. The statistical frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, canonical correlation and path analysis were conducted to analyze the data.


Findings are as follows: (1) The knowledge management of Naval Public Works Department was at a medium level. (2) The competency of personnel in terms of core competency and functional competency was at a high level (3) The hypothesis testing for study the relationship between the knowledge management and the competency of personnel of Naval Public Works Department found that; the knowledge management in terms of knowledge creation and knowledge utilization was related to core competency in terms of morality, ethics, achievement motivation and professional knowledge; the knowledge management in terms of knowledge acquisition was related to functional competency and knowledge utilization was only related to core competency, and (4) the knowledge management method affecting the competency of personnel of Naval Public Works Department.
