A Thai Traditional Medicine Instructor Competency Assessment Model

Abstract

This research article aims to (1) study the necessary competencies of Thai traditional medicine instructors and (2) built an assessment model for the necessary competency including measuring instruments, assessment criteria, and a manual for using the Thai traditional medicine instructor competency assessment model. (3) Find the relationship between competencies including knowledge, skills, and characteristics between the self-assessment results and the head of the assessment branch of Thai traditional medicine. (4) Compare the results of the self-assessment with the Head of the Assessment Branch at each quality level in terms of knowledge, skills, and characteristics. With eighteen experts to data collection. Create the required competency evaluation form. And a manual for using the competency model to assess a sample group of Thai traditional medicine instructors and a chief division total of 204 people. Statistics used were the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and the Friedman test.


Findings are as follows: Necessary competencies include competence in knowledge, skills, and characteristics. Knowledge competencies include four branches of traditional. Skills competency includes traditional medicine. Thai traditional medicine 4 branches and identity identification of plants and herbs, and competency in characteristics such as good attitude and compliance with “Patayalungkarn” and a model for assessing the competency of Thai traditional medicine instructors. And a manual for using the competency model of Thai traditional medicine instructors, the comparison results showed that the results of self-evaluation and the evaluation of chief division were not significantly different p > .05 level.
