This research article aims to study the roles of the local politicians, their strategies, networks and the formation of local political networks and the funeral rites in the Thai Buddhist society in Samut Prakan province from 2019 to 2023. The qualitative research approach was employed to obtain data and certain findings from the viewpoints of the target group. The major study methods consisted of the techniques of documentary research and in-depth interview.
Findings are as follows: Politics in Samut Prakan province in 2019-2023 has three local political groups: Asavahame group, Rasmidatta group, and other groups. The participation in the funeral rites of all the political groups showed the political roles in the same direction. However, the Asavahame group exhibited a higher proportion of participation in the funeral rites than other groups. All three groups of local politicians in Samut Prakan province implemented the strategy of political communication; the political market strategy, and the campaign strategy. The image of being good local politicians was constructed as being able to access and understand residents. This is considered a good starting point for new generations of local politicians to present themselves so that they could be known to a large number of residents.
