Abstract
The Collaboration between the Public Sectors and the Private Sectors in the Development of Logistics in Thailand as a Distribution Center.
The objectives of the study are threefold : (1) to determine the collaboration between the public sector and the private sector in the development of logistics in Thailand as a distribution center ; (2) to ascertain the outcome of the collaboration between the public sector and the private sector ; (3) to ferret out the obstacles which impede and impair the collaboration between the two sectors with regard to the development of logistics in Thailand as a distribution center.The study is qualitative in nature. The needed data were derived from in-depth interviews with 15 key informants from the public sector and the private sector. 1) With respect to the collaboration between the two sectors, it was found that the public sector had developed the logistics system and played a dominant part in creating the capacity of the entrepreneurs; the government had formulated the development policy on a continual basis. The was evidenced by the fact that the policy was put in the Strategic Plan of Logistics Development, Version 2(B.E.2556-2560). 2) With regard to the collaboration between the public sector and the private sector in the development of logistics in Thailand as a distribution center, it was found that all parties concerned were cooperative to a considerable extent except that not all dimensions were covered. 3) On problems and obstacles stemming from the implementation of some policies which was not in line with the set target, it was found that the integration of data of various public and private agencies was still locking and the system of data development had not been put in motion.
