DEVELOPMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE PARTICIPATION OF KHOHONG CREDIT UNION COOPERATIVE LIMITED, HAT YAI DISTRICT, SONGKHLA PROVINCE

Abstract
The objective of this article was to investigate administrative participationand guidelines for development of administrative participation of Khohong Credit Union Cooperation Limited, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. In-depth interviews were conducted with 30 key informants consisting of cooperative committee members, employees of the cooperative, members of the cooperative, and committee members of membership group administration and cooperative promotion officers of Songkhla Provincial Cooperatives. Brainstorming sessions, participant and non-participant observations were also conducted to collect data from the field in addition to documentary data obtained from related literature. Data were validated using triangulation.
The study found the following:
1. Administrative participation of Khohong Credit Union Cooperation Limited was in planning through members attending the annual general meeting and attending meetings of member groups; in acting through being members of administrative committee, committee members of membership group administration and through using business services of the cooperative, in receiving mutual benefits through receiving welfare provided by the cooperative and receiving dividends and patronage refunds to lenders according to the proportion of profits; and in checking through being auditors of the cooperative.
2. Regarding guidelines for development of administrative participation of Khohong Credit Union Cooperation Limited, it was found that in the past only 41 percent of members participated in meetings, and the cooperative thus, develop member participation by organizing training to provide knowledge about cooperatives so that members have more knowledge and understanding, holding activities of membership group meetings, and organizing seminars and study visits. As a result, members see more importance of the cooperative and participate more in the cooperative administration.
