Model of Citizenship Development in Tha Takro Sub-district, Nong Ya Plong District, Phetchaburi Province

Abstract
A model of citizenship development in Tha Takro sub-district, Nong Ya Plong district, Phetchaburi province was constructed using an action research model that applied a participatory public policy development process. Data were collected from 50 samples using focus groups, observations, in-depth interviews and questionnaires. Findings indicated that a model of citizenship development can prepare citizens for higher levels of change and positive relationships. This innovative model can be used to create citizenship in a democratic society as a tool for decentralization at the community level by fostering cooperative work to build good governance. The model can also be used to support the 20-year National Strategy to drive mechanisation at the community level. This reinforcement of democracy will give citizens a sense of ownership and commitment to the sustainable development of their communities.
