Abstract

Abstract

“The National Strategy Process” is an academic paper based on the conclusion of a qualitative academic research titled “The Development of National Strategy Process” conducted during Dec 2016 – May 2017.  The objectives of research are to study Thailand’s national strategy process, identify problems in the process, and then suggest how to improve the process.

The research illustrates a complete picture of national security process which is a continuous repeated cycle of three sub-processes: national strategy formulation, national strategy execution, and national strategy evaluation.  Problems in the national security process can be categorized into four groups: general problems in the overall process and the specific problems in the sub-processes.

The suggested improvements on national security process include the recommendations on process, structure and management of national strategy, knowledge management and national strategy formulation, conceptual framework and contents of national strategy, public sector management and national strategy integration, national strategy conversion into practice, human resource development and management, participation and strategic communication, and national strategy evaluation.
