Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • For blind review, please REMOVE the authors' names and affiliations from the paper.
  • The manuscript has NOT been previously published.
  • The manuscript is NOT under consideration at another journal.
  • The submission file is in either a Microsoft Word or PDF file format.
  • All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

Author Guidelines

Original research articles are invited for submission throughout the year. There is no submission fee and no charge for the publication process. Research articles are generally between 5,000 and 7,000 words. All manuscripts must be submitted online through the THAIJO system. Initial submissions may be in either an MS Word or a PDF format; however, authors whose manuscripts have been accepted for publication must revise their papers to strictly conform with the journal’s style found in the Author Guidelines. A style template for authors can be downloaded here. If you have any inquiries about submission, please contact saje@chula.ac.th.

Reproduction of the paper’s findings: All research findings published in this journal must be reproducible by independent observers. Therefore, authors are required to provide a DOI link to a replication folder stored in Mendeley or another publicly accessible repository prior to final acceptance. If your research relies on private or confidential data, you must still share the computational code and include a note explaining how interested readers can request or access the original dataset. Please ensure that the title page of your manuscript includes the DOI link to the replication folder.

Use of AI and AI-assisted technologies: If authors use generative AI or AI-assisted tools during the writing process, these tools should be limited to improving the language and readability of the manuscript. They must not be used to generate core content such as scientific insights, conclusions, or policy recommendations. Authors must disclose any use of such tools on the title page of their manuscript. Generative AI tools should not be credited as authors or co-authors, nor cited as such.

Article Processing Charges for the Southeast Asian Journal of Economics

Please note that for all articles submitted on or after 15 July 2025 local Bangkok time, an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 12,000 Thai Baht will be applied to each manuscript upon acceptance for publication.

The APC will be used to cover the costs of the publication process, including peer-review management, copyediting, and hosting the final article on dedicated servers.

The submitting author must confirm that the corresponding author agrees to pay the APC. (If there is more than one corresponding author, one must be designated as the responsible contact.)

Once the article is accepted, it will move into the production phase, and the designated corresponding author will be contacted regarding payment. The APC must be paid in full before the article can proceed to typesetting and formatting.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring the APC is paid. Please note that the Southeast Asian Journal of Economics does not offer refunds once payment has been made.
