Abstract

The main objective of this study is to analyze econometrically the Environmental Kuznets Curve relationship for carbon dioxide emissions in East Asia. Panel data regressions were used to test the East Asian EKC for the period 1980 to 2000. It has been found that the CO2 EKC for East Asia does exist. Various socioeconomic variables also contribute to environmental degradation.
