Guidelines of Developing Classroom Research Competency for Teachers in Primary School: Complete Needs Assessment

Abstract

The purposes of this study were: 1) to define and prioritize the need for the performance of the teacher’s classroom research in Primary Education 2) to analyze the causes of the classroom research. 3) to determine solutions to the problems through classroom research. This research collected data form questionnaire developed by the researcher; the data were filled up to by 303 teachers from the Phetchaburi Primary Educational Service Area office. Data analyzed by using basic statistics and Focus group were classroom research 7 people. The research also employed the focus groups to analyze the causes of the problems by applying Fault Tree Analysis Technique and determine solutions to the problems of conducting classroom research of Primary teachers The results of the study were as follows; 1. Teachers Need improve about Knowledge is knowledge and understanding how to analyze the data collected. Skills are abilities in using statistics to analyze the data for the classroom research. 2. The cause of problems is Misconceived about classroom research. Unable to use statistics to analyze data properly, and No originality in research. 3. The solution to the problem is 1) workshops and improve the curriculum for teacher by focusing on classroom research 2) should encourage the teachers to training and practice the classroom research regularly. 3) The teacher’s curriculum that will focus on the classroom research more than general research. 4) The Director should provide motivation, awards or achievement, and 5) The government should encourage the teachers to have the initiative in doing the classroom research.
