THE INVESTMENT PROMOTION POLICY AND OPERATIONAL PROGRESS OF SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE IN THAILAND

The special economic zones (SEZs) are considered one of the ways in the spatial development of many countries. Especially, developing countries due to geopolitical differences using the same pattern and national development guidelines in all areas may not be as successful as it should be.The establishing a special area for economic development took place which this concept may be called differently, such as Free Trade Zone: FTZ, Special Economic Zone, Industrial Parks or Industrial Estate, Bonded Area, Eco-Industrial Zones or Park, etc. With the objective of attracting both domestic and foreign investors to invest in the designated area. This will receive various special benefits from the government such as tax exemption, the right to rent land at a cheap price. Fee waiver low interest loans and allowed to allow lenient labor.This article is a proposal for the development of special economic zones in Thailand.Various investment promotion policies from the government, including investment promotion measures from the Board of Investment (BOI), tax incentives from the Ministry of Finance, Measures regarding privileges from the industrial estate authority of Thailand, and the progress of the current special economic development zone of Thailand.
