Chinese language communication learning process for youth linked to the community resources in tourism context, Kamphaeng Phet Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: (1) to develop a Chinese language communication learning process tailored to the needs of youth within the context of community resources in tourism, specifically within Kamphaeng Phet Province, and (2) to assess the satisfaction levels of the participants regarding the newly developed learning process. This study employed a research and development methodology, utilizing a mixed-method approach. The operational steps of this research comprised several stages: the development of a comprehensive learning curriculum, the establishment of procedural guidelines, the creation of various learning activities, the assessment of learning outcomes, and the implementation of purposive sampling techniques. The findings of the study revealed the creation of a singular curriculum designed for five distinct youth groups. These included a central sub-curriculum supplemented by five specific curricula, catering to the unique needs of each group: community tourism, natural tourism, historical tourism, cultural and traditional tourism, and OTOP Nawatwithi village tourism/products. Each curriculum focused on enhancing Chinese communication skills, encompassing vocabulary acquisition, conversational proficiency, and communicate of tourist attractions. The implementation of the learning process involved 329 participants from five different schools and groups. They all passed the assessment methods included the tests and practical demonstrations through the completion of assigned tasks. Regarding the satisfaction evaluation of the activity participants with the newly developed learning process, the study revealed that the youth expressed the highest levels of satisfaction with the overall process and activities ( = 4.2, = 0.66).
