Foreign Tourist's Behavior in Self-Defense to Achieve the Safety of Life and property in Pattaya

Abstract

The study on the foreign tourist's behavior in self-defense to achieve the safety of life and property in Pattaya, Chonburi aimed to investigate the preparation and the behavior of foreign tourists in self-defense to achieve the safety of life and property in Pattaya. The study was a quantitative research, using the data collected from the documents and the questionnaires. The information was obtained from 400 foreign tourists and then analyzed.

The findings are summarized as follows: The preparation of foreign tourists in self-defense to achieve their safety of life and property in Pattaya was at high level. Such preparation included general acts, avoidance of the risk situations that can lead the tourists to be a crime victim, being alert to the surrounding environment, being interesting in learning about self-defense and avoidance of being a cause, or a motivator, or a trigger of a crime. According to the comparison of average preparation in self-defense to achieve the safety of life and property by gender, there was no difference between female and male tourists in Pattaya. In contrast, the tourists in Pattaya with different nationality,    age range and occupation demonstrated the different preparation in self-defense to achieve the safety of life and property. Furthermore, the tourists in Pattaya with different transportation, accommodation and trip duration showed the different preparation in self-defense to achieve the safety of life and property.
