Participation in Undergraduate Student’s Political Activities Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Khon Kaen Campus

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the level of the political activity participation; 2) to study the level of the political activity participation in accordance with the Sālāṇīyadhamma (the States of Conciliation); 3) to compare the political activity participation based on the samples’ personal factors; 4) to study the guidelines to promote the political activity participation of the undergraduate students in Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, KhonKaen Campus. This study was carried out by means of the mixed method research to collect the data from 186 samples and 12 key informants. The research tools were the questionnaire and the interview form. The statistics used in the data analysis were: Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test and f-test.

The research results were as follows:

1) The level of the political activity participation in accordance with the Sālāṇīyadhamma of the undergraduate students in Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, KhonKaen Campus in overall was statistically rated at a high level.

2) The undergraduate students with different personal factors: gender, age, class, fields of study and GPA showed their participation in political activities indifferently. The students with the political activity participation in accordance with Sālāṇīyadhamma in overall showed their political activity participation differently.

3) The guidelines for promoting the participation in political activities of the undergraduate students, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, KhonKaenCampus are to organize the campaign activities for students to use the right to vote, to organize academic discussion activities about elections for students to analyze, search for information from various media, train students to write academic articles and find ways to publish and disseminate works in journals or national conferences and get them to know how to use reasons integrated with Buddhist principles.
