Development of Multimedia for Online Learning, Open System MOOCs to Enhance the Knowledge of Thai Classical Dance of Student Teachers of Rajabhat University

This research and development study aimed to investigate the conditions and needs of Rajabhat University student teachers regarding learning Thai classical dance through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), develop multimedia for Thai classical dance learning through MOOCs according to established criteria, compare students’ learning achievement before and after learning with the developed multimedia, and examine students’ satisfaction with the course. The research was conducted in four phases: investigation of conditions and needs, multimedia development and quality evaluation, implementation and comparison of learning achievement, and satisfaction evaluation. In the first phase, data were collected from 250 student teachers to identify their learning conditions and needs. In the implementation phase, 200 student teachers were selected using stratified multistage random sampling. The developed multimedia consisted of 12 lessons covering fundamental knowledge of Thai classical dance and was
designed to support flexible online learning. The research instruments included a conditions and needs survey, focus-group questions, multimedia lessons, a knowledge test, and a satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and a dependent-samples t-test.
The findings revealed that: (1) student teachers expressed a very high level of need to learn and enroll in the course (x̅= 4.62, SD = 0.579); (2) the developed multimedia demonstrated high quality, with content validity and format validity indices of 0.96 and 1.00, respectively; (3) the post-test score ( x̅= 14.23, SD = 2.814) was significantly higher than the pre-test score (x̅= 8.50, SD = 2.753), t(199) = 27.346, p < .001; and (4) student teachers’ overall satisfaction was at a high level (x̅= 4.41, SD = 0.694). These findings indicate that multimedia-based MOOCs can effectively support the development of Thai classical dance knowledge among student teachers while providing a flexible digital learning resource that broadens access to Thai cultural knowledge.
