Abstract

This research article aims to study the intertextuality to create the content in student's short films in 2016. This is qualitative research by using participant observation as an executive producer.

The research found that horizontal intertextuality is conventional for special symbols and conflicts. However, the modification of the original screenplay was reduced due to the limit of the short film and the ability of the students to make the film like professional that are ready with the budget, production crews, and the period of time to produce the film. So the students use the reduction by interpreting the context and the environment of the characters which is suitable to their ability and finish the project on time.
