Analysis of the Management of Arts and Community Event “Retrace the Late King’s Steps at Ban Pong, The Visual Art Exhibition to Honor the King Rama IX” Held for Recalling the Royal Grace of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at Ban Pong District, Ratchaburi Province

Abstract

The research on an analysis of the management of arts and community event “Retrace the late king’s steps at Ban Pong, The visual art exhibition to honor the King Rama IX” held for recalling the royal grace of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at Ban Pong district, Ratchaburi Province was conducted to analyze procedures of arts and community event management based on the concepts of management, aesthetics and social construction of reality, and to do the qualitative research which was the result of an integration among research methods, creations and academic services to society. The results included the following aspects. (1) This project was done under excellent management. Each of its activity gained effective cooperation from government units, private sector, community, public and media. In addition, there were a lot of audiences. (2) The visual arts presented in this project were highly equipped with aesthetic value. They were selected by proficient committee. The participants and audiences’ satisfaction were at excellent level. (3) This project represented as a mark of honor to and remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. That made the audiences recalled the late King and appeared willing to carry out the royal wishes. Moreover, most of them, deep in their hearts, always think of him as the Thai nation unity. (4) This project has created qualitative results for organizations and their personnel, including organizations’ responsibilities towards society and environment, academic services to society, production and dissemination of academic outputs and creations, and linkage of social networks through the arts and community events. In conclusion, this project was the use of activities and arts as a medium to honor and recall the late King’s royal grace, to raise awareness of virtue and to bring about the sense of unity among people in community and the nation by perceiving the late His Majesty the King Rama IX as an everlasting Thai nation unity.
