Abstract

The world is moving toward the digital world. Much of the work that was normally performed manually is being replaced by technology. Most of the business and government organizations are entering into a phase of digital transformation using new and usually disruptive technology in their day-to-day business. This transformation causes changes in the nature of and process of work in organizations. These changes cause people at all levels in an organization to adapt themselves to their new work environment. Since digital transformation is involved in changing the culture and mindsets of people to become aligned with the new digital environment, the Human Resource (HR) Department has a pivotal role to play in the process of change. In order to be able to align or lead the transformation, the HR Department has to transform itself first. Otherwise, it is facing the risk of being collapsed or outsourced. Thus, HR transformation is a must for the HR staff and HR Department. This paper aims to review the concept and process of HR transformation in order that all key stakeholder groups can use as a basis for consideration for HR transformation on their parts.
