Main Article Content
Abstract
Background and Objectives: This research aimed to: 1) investigate the levels of understanding of green supply chain management, competitive advantage, and operational performance among community enterprises in the area under the Bang Phli Yai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province; 2) examine the relationship between understanding of green supply chain management and competitive advantage among these community enterprises; and 3) identify key variables that contribute to increasing community enterprise entrepreneurs’ knowledge of green supply chain management.
Methods: The study population consisted of community enterprise entrepreneurs in the area under the Bang Phli Yai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, whose total number was unknown, and 21 officials involved in community enterprise operations. The sample comprised 150 community enterprise entrepreneurs selected through convenience and voluntary sampling and all 21 relevant officials, who participated through voluntary sampling. Data were collected through fieldwork using questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and binary logistic regression.
Results: The findings revealed that: 1) the level of understanding of green supply chain management among community enterprises in the study area was high across all aspects. However, the environmental aspect, particularly knowledge of wastewater treatment from production processes, received the lowest mean score. Competitive advantage was also rated at a high level. Regarding operational performance, most entrepreneurs who demonstrated good business performance, particularly in cost reduction, had knowledge of green supply chain management. 2) Understanding of green supply chain management was positively correlated with competitive advantage at a statistically significant level. 3) The environmental aspect was identified as a key variable associated with increasing entrepreneurs’ knowledge of green supply chain management.
Application of this Study: The findings can be applied by the Bang Phli Yai Subdistrict Administrative Organization to develop initiatives aimed at enhancing community enterprise entrepreneurs’ knowledge of green supply chain management. In particular, educational activities should prioritize environmental management, with a specific focus on wastewater treatment from community production processes. Such initiatives may help entrepreneurs improve their environmental management practices and support the development of community enterprises.
Conclusions: The study found that community enterprise entrepreneurs in the study area had a high level of understanding of green supply chain management and competitive advantage. A statistically significant positive relationship was found between understanding of green supply chain management and competitive advantage. The environmental aspect, particularly wastewater treatment, was identified as an important area for further knowledge development. Therefore, promoting environmental knowledge and appropriate wastewater treatment practices should be a priority for the Bang Phli Yai Subdistrict Administrative Organization in supporting sustainable community enterprise development.
