บทคัดย่อ

ที่มาและวัตถุประสงค์: การศึกษาที่ผ่านมาบางส่วนเกี่ยวกับการพัฒนาสื่อการเรียนรู้การใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อการท่องเที่ยว (เช่น คู่มือ หนังสือ หรือสื่อวิดีโอ) มักมุ่งเน้นเนื้อหาภาษาอังกฤษที่ใช้ในการปฏิบัติงานในสถานการณ์ทั่วไป อย่างไรก็ตาม การพัฒนาหนังสือที่มีความเฉพาะเจาะจง (หนังสือเล่มเล็ก) กับบริบทงานโรงแรมขนาดเล็กและกลุ่มนักท่องเที่ยวสะพายเป้ในมิติภาษาอังกฤษในฐานะภาษากลาง (English as a Lingua Franca: ELF) กลับยังไม่ได้รับความสนใจเท่าที่ควร ยิ่งไปกว่านั้น นักท่องเที่ยวกลุ่มดังกล่าวมีวัฒนธรรมและพฤติกรรมเฉพาะที่แตกต่างจากนักท่องเที่ยวทั่วไป จึงจำเป็นต้องสร้างความเข้าใจและความตระหนักรู้เพื่อนำมาพัฒนาเป็นเนื้อหาบทเรียน งานวิจัยนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์ประการแรกเพื่อพัฒนาหนังสือเล่มเล็กสำหรับการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเพื่องานโรงแรมขนาดเล็กและนักท่องเที่ยวสะพายเป้ในบริบท ELF ที่มุ่งเน้นเนื้อหาความตระหนักรู้ข้ามวัฒนธรรมในพื้นที่เมืองอยุธยา และประการที่สองเพื่อศึกษาความคิดเห็นของบุคลากรต่อหนังสือเล่มเล็กที่พัฒนาขึ้นดังกล่าวระเบียบวิธีการศึกษา: การวิจัยใช้รูปแบบการวิจัยและพัฒนา (Research and Development: R&D) โดยประยุกต์ใช้กระบวนการ 3 ขั้นตอนแรก (ADD) จากแบบจำลอง ADDIE Model ได้แก่ 1) ขั้นการวิเคราะห์ (Analysis) มุ่งศึกษาพฤติกรรมของนักท่องเที่ยว ตลอดจนปัญหาและความต้องการของบุคลากร 2) ขั้นการออกแบบ (Design) ดำเนินการวางโครงสร้างและกำหนดเนื้อหาภายในหนังสือ และ 3) ขั้นการพัฒนา (Development) จัดทำหนังสือเล่มเล็กที่เน้นเนื้อหาด้านสถานการณ์จริง ภาษาอังกฤษที่ใช้ในการปฏิบัติงาน และคำอธิบายเพื่อสร้างความตระหนักรู้ข้ามวัฒนธรรม สำหรับเครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยประกอบด้วย แบบสังเกต (บันทึกข้อมูลภาคสนาม) แบบสัมภาษณ์กึ่งโครงสร้าง และหนังสือเล่มเล็กที่พัฒนาขึ้น เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ (Key Informants) จำนวน 32 คน และผู้ถูกสังเกตจำนวน 15 คน ข้อมูลทั้งหมดได้รับการประมวลผลและวิเคราะห์ด้วยวิธีการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา (Content Analysis)
ผลการศึกษา: ในขั้นการวิเคราะห์พบว่า นักท่องเที่ยวสะพายเป้ส่วนใหญ่เป็นผู้ใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในฐานะภาษากลาง (ELF) และมีลักษณะพฤติกรรมเฉพาะกลุ่มคือ กังวลเรื่องการถูกหลอกลวงและใช้จ่ายอย่างประหยัด ในขณะที่บุคลากรโรงแรมขนาดเล็กยังขาดความเข้าใจในความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรมบางประการ แต่มีความต้องการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในการปฏิบัติงานเพื่อการสื่อสารที่เข้าใจได้ง่าย รวมถึงต้องการใช้ภาษาที่มีความเฉพาะเจาะจงในบางเรื่อง สำหรับหนังสือเล่มเล็กที่พัฒนาขึ้นประกอบด้วยเนื้อหาหลักจำนวน 7 บท ครอบคลุมตั้งแต่การทักทายไปจนถึงการอำลา โดยเนื้อหาภาษาอังกฤษถูกพัฒนาขึ้นควบคู่กับการสร้างความตระหนักรู้ข้ามวัฒนธรรมที่อ้างอิงจากพฤติกรรมจริงของนักท่องเที่ยว ส่วนผลการศึกษาความคิดเห็นพบว่า บุคลากรโรงแรมมีความคิดเห็นในเชิงบวกต่อหนังสือเล่มเล็กนี้ โดยให้ความสำคัญเป็นพิเศษกับเนื้อหาด้านความปลอดภัยและการสนทนาทั่วไป (Small Talk)
การประยุกต์ใช้: ข้อมูลเชิงลึกจากงานวิจัยนี้สามารถนำไปประยุกต์ใช้เป็นแนวทางที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อวงการการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อวัตถุประสงค์เฉพาะ (ESP) ตลอดจนผู้พัฒนาคู่มือ หนังสือเรียน และสื่อการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษเพื่องานโรงแรมต่อไป อย่างไรก็ตาม การนำผลงานวิจัยไปใช้เพื่อจัดทำเป็นหนังสือเพื่อการเผยแพร่ควรมีการพิจารณาอย่างรอบคอบ เนื่องจากภาษาที่ใช้ในหนังสือเล่มเล็กในงานวิจัยนี้เป็นภาษาในบริบทการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษากลาง (ELF)
บทสรุป: งานวิจัยนี้ถือเป็นการวิจัยและพัฒนาหนังสือเล่มเล็กในระยะเบื้องต้นที่มุ่งเน้นเนื้อหาความตระหนักรู้ในความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรมของกลุ่มนักท่องเที่ยวสะพายเป้ภายใต้บริบท ELF ซึ่งทำให้ได้ข้อเท็จจริงที่เป็นประโยชน์ แต่อย่างไรก็ดี ในความเป็นจริงแล้วการจะพัฒนาให้เป็นหนังสือที่มีความสมบูรณ์ครบถ้วน ยังจำเป็นต้องมีการศึกษาและพัฒนาในประเด็นอื่น ๆ เพิ่มเติมต่อไปในอนาคต
