Learning Organization Development Model for Petrochemical Industry Affiliates of PTT Public Company Limited

Abstract

The objectives of the research are as follows. (1) To study factors of the learning organization and the characteristics of learning organization for the petrochemical industry in the group of PTT Public Company Limited. (2) To study the factors of learning organization and the characteristics of learning organization affecting the development of learning organization for the petrochemical industry in the group of PTT Public Company Limited and (3) To find a model for the development of a learning organization for the petrochemical industry in the group of PTT Public Company Limited. This research used a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods. Data were collected using a questionnaire from a sample of 400 employees in the petrochemical industry group of PTT Public Company Limited. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis, step-by-step method, and qualitative data from a sample of 30 people with in-depth interviews with middle-level executives from department managers and higher and analyzed the data with content analysis.


The results of the research found that the appropriate model for the development of learning organizations for petrochemical industrial business affiliates of PTT Public Company Limited consists of 4 key components: organizational structure, staff, management style, and organizational operating system. Analyzing the data from the interviews, it was found that the important factors in developing a learning organization consisted of knowledge management, technology application, experimentation of new practices and factors of efficient knowledge transfer. It was also found that common vision factor and systematic problem-solving factors have the greatest influence on the development of learning organizations statistically significant at the 0.05 level.
