The Development of an Effective Academic Administration Model for Private Vocational Colleges in the Upper Northern Region of Thailand

Abstract

In this research article examines (1) the factors of the effective academic administration of private vocational colleges in the upper northern region of Thailand; and (2) an effective academic administration model for these colleges. The sample population consisted of 465 directors from 31 private vocational colleges. The statistics used in data analysis were frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation.


Findings are as follows: (1) The factors of the effective academic administration model for the private vocational colleges under study consisted of the following: building the relationships between educational institutions and the community; developing a learner development process; using media and innovations; administrators’ leadership; supporting instruction and study; learner-centered learning; skills; promoting and supporting to have teaching capability; academic aspects of the administration of educational institutions; raising learners’ quality; improving instructors’ professional development; evaluations appropriate for learners; and studying with an emphasis on practice. And (2) An effective academic administration model for the private vocational colleges under study exhibited the characteristics and methods in each component as follows: Administer the work in the aspect of the relationships between educational institutions and their communities; learning to know; developing learning in an efficient manner; instructors’ participation; and preparation for professional skills.
