The Development of a Performance Evaluation Model for Lecturers at Private Higher Education Institutions

Abstract

The research article purpose of this study was (1) to investigate the appraisal framework for instructors of private universities, (2) to create an appraisal model on instructors’ performance of private universities, and (3) to evaluate the proposed model for instructors of private universities. The research methodology was in the following three steps. Step One was the study of the conditions and problems in the performance evaluation of the lecturers under study. Step Two was the construction of a performance evaluation model for these lecturers. Step Three was the evaluation of the model constructed in Step Two by implementing it.


The results revealed that: (1) The study of the appraisal framework for instructors of private universities founded that the existing appraisal framework for instructors of private universities was in appropriated and insufficiently to represent in every areas. (2) The creation of an appraisal model on instructors’ performance of private universities founded that an appraisal model on performance consisted of Components of an appraisal model on instructors’ performance of private universities consisted of 6 components knowledge and ability component, operation component, student service/academic service component, management component, moral, ethics, and teachership component, and cultural preservation component and The evaluation of the proposed model for instructors of private universities founded that each instructors performance could be identified clearly.
