Effectiveness of a Job Crafting Program for Alumni and Current Student Volunteer Employees of Ramkhamhaeng University

Abstract

This research article aims to study (1) explore the meaning of job crafting among volunteer employees, (2) develop a job crafting program for volunteer employees, and (3) compare the job crafting of volunteer employees before and after participating in the program. The research is Quasi-experimental research with interview and One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design method. This study consisted of three phases. The sample group experiment consists of 17 volunteer employees and 5 key informants who are alumni and current students of Ramkhamhaeng University. Research tools used in the study include structured in-depth interviews, a job crafting program, and a job crafting questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using mean, frequency, standard deviation, and Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test.


Findings are as follows: (1) job crafting among volunteer employees refers to the adjustment of various aspects of their work to improve the outcome, and can be categorized into three components: task crafting, relation crafting, and cognitive crafting, (2) the job crafting program for volunteer employees consists of 3 stages, 9 part, 17 activities, totaling 6 hours, and (3) the average level of job crafting among volunteer employees after participating in the program was significantly higher than before, with a statistical significance level of .001.
