The Effects of Innovativeness and Antecedents on Competitiveness of Local Hotel Business in Phuket Province

Abstract
This research article aims to study (1) the effects of entrepreneurial orientation on total quality management, innovativeness, and competitiveness. (2) the effects of total quality management on innovativeness and competitiveness; and (3) the effects of innovativeness on competitiveness. This study was mixed method research by using qualitative research with in-depth research interviews for 9 main informants and quantitative research with a questionnaire with 300 respondents from the executives, managers, and local hotel business entrepreneurs. Qualitative data analysis by conclusion and verification using triangulation and quantitative data analysis using structural equation modeling (SEM).
Findings are as follows: (1) entrepreneurial orientation had a positive effect on innovativeness and competitiveness; however, it had no effect on total quality management. (2) The total quality management had no effect on innovativeness and competitiveness. (3) Finally, innovativeness had a positive effect on competitiveness. The findings of the study affirmed that executives should give opportunities for their employees to show their visions and contribute total quality management to strengthen administrative management and promote innovativeness to increase further competitiveness.
