Development of Herbal Product Innovation from Plai for Sustainable Value Addition and Product Standardization of Ban Hua Thanon Klang Local Wisdom Occupational Group, Tha Tako District, Nakhon Sawan Province

Abstract
This research article aimes to (1) develop product concepts from Plai (Zingiber cassumunar Roxb.), (2) evaluate opinions towards Plai herbal product concepts, (3) develop Plai herbal product prototypes, and (4) conduct market testing of Plai products for commercialization. The study employed a research and development approach combined with mixed methods research methodology. The population consisted of consumers in Nakhon Sawan province and members of Ban Hua Thanon Klang Local Wisdom Occupational Group. The quantitative research sample comprised 400 consumers selected through purposive sampling, while the qualitative research participants were purposively selected from members of Ban Hua Thanon Klang Local Wisdom Occupational Group and spa and massage business operators. The research instruments included questionnaires and in-depth interview guides. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics and content analysis.
Findings are as follows: (1) the development of Plai product concepts led to the creation of four product forms: Plai soap, Plai oil, Plai powder, and Plai massage cream; (2) consumer opinion assessment of herbal product concepts showed that Plai massage cream received high interest ( = 4.10, SD = 0.75); (3) knowledge provision and prototype development resulted in the creation of Plai massage cream under the "A-Jung-Wa" brand, reflecting the identity of the Lao Khrang community; and (4) market testing through product trials and social media platforms demonstrated the product's market potential, with consumers showing satisfaction towards the Plai massage cream, particularly in aspects such as the herbal fragrance which received the highest satisfaction (
= 4.35, SD = 0.68), followed by ease of use (
