An Efficient Teamwork Model for Food Businesses

Abstract

This research article aims to study (1) the conditions and problems of efficient teamwork for food businesses; constructs (2) an efficient teamwork model for food businesses; and evaluates (3) the constructed model. The study was divided into three steps as follows. Step One: Studied the current conditions and the problems concerning constructing an efficient teamwork model for food businesses. The technique of in-depth interview was employed with ten executives in food businesses. Step Two: Constructed an efficient teamwork model for food businesses using the Delphi technique with seventeen experts. and Step Three: Nine experts evaluated the efficient teamwork model for food businesses. The evaluation was to determine the suitability, feasibility, and usefulness of the constructed model. Findings are as follows: Summarized and discussed in accordance with the components
of the model using the techniques of content analysis, mean, and standard deviation. Findings
are as follows: (1) The conditions for the efficient teamwork for food businesses showed that the
team members in food businesses had only a short period with the opportunity to practice with
the team. When they began to be experienced in their roles and duties, they had to change roles
so they could not work in an efficient manner. Problems in teamwork found that team members
in food businesses were young. They did not have experience in performing certain roles. They
did not have confidence, did not understand, and took a long time to learn. The practice time was also limited so they could not practice working in a team in a sufficient manner. (2) The efficient teamwork model for food businesses was found by the experts who exhibited congruence in their opinions that the level of suitability was at a high to the highest level (Md between 4.00-5.00, IQR = 0.00). The model consisted of six components and sixty items (3) The experts evaluated the constructed model using the technique of focus group discussions. They were of the opinion that all of the components of the model exhibited suitability, feasibility, and usefulness at a high to the highest level.
