Processes and Community Empowerment Through Local Development Models: A Case Study of Nonthaburi

This study investigates the process supporting local development models aimed at strengthening community resilience in Nonthaburi Province. Employing qualitative research methods, the study draws on document analysis, in-depth structured interviews with 13 participants (comprising 7 municipal executives and 6 community members), and non-structured observational methods. Data were collected from model communities and analyzed through categorization and organization to compare factors contributing to community resilience, leading to a synthesis of findings and recommendations.
The findings indicate that operational methods supporting local development in Nonthaburi province enhance community strength, enabling self-reliance and improved quality of life. Key recommendations to address challenges and obstacles include fostering strong relationships with local municipalities, enhancing community skills, and ensuring effective communication. The processes supporting local development in Nonthaburi include:
1) Community leaders who are selfless and possess good interpersonal skills.
2) Community acceptance of the community committee.
3) High self-reliance potential within the community.
4) Funding local government to support community initiatives.
5) Collaboration between the community and local government to solve problems.
6) The development of public spaces, which improve residents' quality of life and strengthen community ties through participatory design and management.
Nevertheless, several challenges hinder community resilience in Nonthaburi, including insufficient dedication among some community leaders, ineffective management practices, and inadequate support from government agencies. To address these issues, the study recommends increased budgetary allocations for community development, targeted skill enhancement programs for residents, and initiatives to foster unity within communities
