Abstract

The research aimed to 1) study the needs to develop the characteristics of natural resource and village environment volunteers, 2) study the components of characteristics of natural resource and village environment volunteers, and 3) analyze the confirmatory factor analysis of characteristics of natural resource and village environment volunteers. This research used mixed methods and divided into three phases. Phase 1: study the needs of volunteers by interviewing 10 persons who were contributed the environmental conservation and work experience at least five years. Phase 2: study the characteristics of volunteer by interviewing 12 specialists. Phase 3: analyze the confirmatory factor analysis using 500 respondents from the natural resource and village environment volunteers. The research instrument was an interviews and questionnaire. The qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis and confirmatory factor analysis with Chi-square Probability Level () Relative Chi- square (CMIN/DF), Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA). The findings were as follows: 1. The needs to develop the characteristics of natural resource and village environment volunteers revealed that they needed to develop knowledge, attitude on natural resource, skill for natural ethics, communication and public relations, training and manuals for the characteristics of natural resource and village environment volunteers. 2. The components of characteristics of natural resource and village environment volunteers consisted of 1) knowledge related to natural resource and environment as 11 characteristics 2) attitude consisted of 10 characteristics, 3) environmental ethics consisted of 10 characteristics 4) participation to conserve the natural resource and environment consisted of 10 characteristics and 5) public relations and knowledge consisted of 10 characteristics 3. The confirmatory factor analysis of characteristics of natural resource and village environment volunteers revealed that they were consisted of 5 components as 1) knowledge related to natural resource and environment as 8 characteristics ( = .096, CMIN/DF = 1.582, GFI = .992, RMSEA =.034) 2) attitude consisted of 7 characteristics, ( = .242, CMIN/DF = 1.280, GFI = .994, RMSEA =.024) 3) environmental ethics consisted of 7 characteristics ( = .221, CMIN/DF = 1.333, GFI = .994, RMSEA =.026) 4) participation to conserve the natural resource and environment consisted of 7 characteristics ( = .712, CMIN/DF = .678, GFI = .997, RMSEA =.000) and 5) public relations and knowledge consisted of 8 characteristics ( = .553, CMIN/DF = .913, GFI = .995, RMSEA = .000)
