EFFECTS OF LOOSE PART PLAY ACTIVITY PROVISION ON BASIC MATHEMATICAL SKILLS IN NUMBER SENSE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to study effects of loose part play activity provision on basic mathematical skills In number sense for young children. Target group used in this study were 30 young children ranging in age between 4 to 5 years old who were studying in kindergarten level 2, academic year of 2020 at Thanyasit School under The Primary Educational Service Area Office 2, PathumThani province. The tools used in this study were 24 plans of loose part play activity experience on basic mathematical skills in number sense for young children, and an assessment on basic mathematical skills in number sense for young children. Data were analysed by mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.

The results of the study showed that young children who engaged in loose part play activities had higher posttest scores of basic mathematical skills in number sense than those who did not in overall aspects and in each aspect.
