National Road Traffic Management Strategy

Abstract

Road traffic management strategy research determine Thailand road  safety problem and analysis of decade for road safety action strategy 2011 and    propose new road traffic management strategy.  This qualitative research was done by gather secondary data and in-depth interview 14 key performant.  The result of the study was severity of road traffic injuries and fatality causing damage to Thailand social and economy and failure of decade for road safety action strategy 2011.  New strategy takes into account the organisational change in the transport administration, the national strategy for intelligent and innovative transport and technology like camera TV, car recognition, warning system when drive beyond speed limit, national demerit system.  Active network operation will ensure the predictability and         reliability of travel and transport in all conditions, through the prevention of          incidents and the minimisation of their impacts.  In this respect, the most important tools are traffic control, traffic information and incident management.  Ensuring safe mobility will reduce the number of road fatalities and injuries, enhance the overall level of safety and security, and improve compliance with traffic rules and regulations.  Promoting public transport, pedestrian and bicycle traffic will restrain car traffic growth.  High-quality real-time data on transport system status forms the essential basis for  reducing road traffic accident.  Conclusion : national road accident  reduction policy should adopt new comprehensive strategy and set up new organisation for solving road traffic management and monitoring, evaluation and feedback to    improve  desirable outcomes.
