New Approach on Developing Indicators for Digital Economy and Society

Abstract

This qualitative research proposes the new approach on developing indicators for digital economy and society as the instrument to assess the development of digital economy and society in various aspects. This new approach uses the criteria of using the new/current methodology and using the new/current sources of data to justify the new way of developing indicators aligning the national digital economy and society plan and in line with the direction of the national 20-year strategies in order to obtain the appropriate indicators that help justify the development direction towards the Sustainable Development Goals according to the United Nations’ agreement on sustainable development.

The approach on improving the current indicators of digital economy and society could recommend the relevant responsible party to enhance the efficiency on monitoring the progress on digitalization of Thai economy and society.
