ASEAN Ahead in the Multi Polar Global System under Super Powers

Abstract

ASEAN Community is the international organization in Southeast Asia region. This region presents its strategic location importance as communication line or sea line for both commercial and military vessels. Global security environment is changing from mono polar to multi polar global system. It is being transformed that make all players especially super powers fall into competition, each other’s, including the United State, China, Russia, EU and India. ASEAN territory is also affected by their competition focusing on economic and military. The South China Sea problem is the most currently tension in the region. ASEAN need to be careful to maintain good relationship with all great powers or super powers. The Question for ASEAN is, how to make all its members get benefit from ASEAN commitment to each important issue concerning with the super powers, balancing, decreasing pressure to choose ones side. How can ASEAN members play the same direction role in global stage, or to the competition great powers?
