Abstract

This research aim to study the needs of farmers, current economic, social and health situations/problems readiness or preparation plan Limitations when entering an aging society including guidelines for driving the aging economy of farmers. This research approach is both of the document analysis and qualitative research. Collected data by in-depth interviews with 8 experts and 43 farmers in the age group 45-60 years old and over 60 years old. The results found that the longevity economy is to allow the elderly farmers to do economic activities for their longest time and less dependent, in which there are 3 components as follows; firstly, the activities can be managed by themselves. Secondly, the activities provide for their sufficient returns and thirdly, the activities can be value for themselves and others. In addition, there are divided into 4 farmer groups of the readiness on entering aging society as follows: the first group is an income planning without dependency, the second group is an income planning with dependency, the third is no income planning and having dependent family and the fourth is no income planning and no one to be dependent. The longevity economy should integrate both of private and government sector on policy, community and household level respectively. The local administrative organizations and community leaders should corporate to create the readiness of elderly farmer in term of economy, health and social environment including the proper program in order to be effective manage the aging society in the future.
