Guidelines for Metaverse Platform Development to Enhance Future Learning and Services
Keywords:
Metaverse, Informal Learning, Learning PlatformAbstract
This research proposes a process for development of Metaverse for informal learning using qualitative research methodology. The main objective is to survey and evaluate whether learning experience on Metaverse is suitable for lifelong learning. Interview questionnaire is used to explore the feasibility of Metaverse for informal learning in 3 aspects; learning process, technology, and economics. The interview results lead to construct a Metaverse prototype for informal learning, using a “Tech behind Games” exhibition from the Information Technology Museum, National Science Museum Thailand, as an example. This prototype delivers solid outcomes according to the five elements of General Learning Outcomes theory, which can be concluded that Metaverse is a potential tool for a new learning platform. Therefore, a Metaverse as a national open platform for informal learning with features such as marketplace and social area is recommended. Future research on social impact of Metaverse in learning is also required to cover all the aspects of modern learning revolution.
