Economic factor and social capital affecting the quality of life of people in a sub-district municipality in Suphanburi province

Abstract

This research aimed to compare the level of opinions on people's quality of life classified by economic factors and to study social capital that affects the quality of life of people in a sub-district municipality in Suphanburi province. It was a quantitative research with a sample of 352 people in a sub-district municipality in Suphanburi province using a multi-stage random sampling method. The data collection tool was a questionnaire. The statistics used in the analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and multiple regression analysis. The results of the hypothesis testing found that people in a sub-district municipality in Suphanburi province with different occupational characteristics and household incomes had different overall quality of life. Social capital, which includes grouping, having a culture, and efficiency in work, has a positive effect on the quality of life of people in a sub-district municipality in Suphanburi province. Honesty and having good administration and bureaucracy negatively affect the quality of life of people in a sub-district municipality in Suphanburi province. In addition, it was found that social capital had a predictive power of about 26 percent with a statistical significance of 0.05. According to the study, they should promote or find jobs to support unemployed people or people who need income to raise a family. They should also organize a campaign for people to do more activities together within the community for a better quality of life.
