Abstract

Discovery of Thalang, Fort of Thalang city, Thai-Burma battlefield, in Thao Thepkrasattri and Thao Srisunthon period base on primary evidences, as follows: 1) In AD 1784, Captain Thomas Forrest explored Thalang Island and wrote a map of Thalang Island, locating the Tharua city. Forrest recorded that the governor’s house of Phraya Phimon, the governor of Thalang, was at the Tharua city. 2) Archives of Thao Thepkrasattri stated that the fort of Thalang city was in the same area as Phraya Phimon’s house. 3) Captain James Scott reported to the headquarters that The Burmese fleet appeared at Tharua Bay on February 8, 1786. 4) Captain Francis Light reported to the headquarters that Captain Scott and Captain Bemele informed that 80 large Burmese ships and 3000 Burmese soldiers attacked Tharua Bay on February 8, 1786. 5) Captain Light reported to the headquarters that in AD 1787 there were 400 Bantakian villagers. If the Burmese army in AD 1786 passed Bantakian, the villagers had to escape into the forest. Revealing the fact that Thai-Burmese battlefield at Bantakian is not true in Thalang history 2328 BE. 6) Chao Phraya Inthawongsa built a palace, is not true in Thalang history. 7) Popra fort at Popra strait is not true in Thalang history. 8)
“Pak Phra” in the archives of Thao Thepkrasattri is not at Tha Nun-Tha Chatchai Strait. The primary evidences confirmed that Thalang, Fort of Thalang, Thai-Burma battlefield during Thao Thepkrasattri and Thao Srisunthon period, were at Tharua, not Bantakian.
