Abstract

Academic article on Magic and Medicine: A Case Study of Folk Healer at Ban Chumphon focuses on studying the stories of folks who have knowledge and beliefs about passed-on wisdom of curing disease with herbal medicine and incantations. With field researching and analyzing collected data, the results found that there were both Buddhist and Muslim traditional healers where the Buddhist healers provided treatment for ghost sickness and cataracts and the Muslim healers cure a symptom called “Delusions of parasitosis” and gas and bloating in children. The villagers and people nearby usually seek treatments from both folk healers and modern medicine at the same time.
