Abstract

During the 17th century (Buddhist Century 22), the city of Pattani played a pivotal role as a prominent trading port widely recognized by merchants from both the East and the West. Politically, the governance of Pattani was inherited through the Sri Wangsa dynasty, with its rulers exercising a considerable degree of autonomy. The city's flourishing trade and self-governance enabled it to establish independent commercial policies in engaging with foreign merchants.
