Abstract

This paper is a review of the present food waste situation in Thailand and the relevant policies both domestically and internationally. The study showed that the massive amount of food waste worldwide is a consequence of consumption behaviour at the household level. It is shown that public policy is the primary governmental tool, whose implementation many countries have used to systematically control food waste at each stage of the food chain.  As a result, the amount of food waste has been reduced effectively in accordance with   Sustainable Development Goal 12.3. The study proposed that recommendations pertaining to food waste management policy in Thailand will benefit policymakers in all sectors for implementing sustainable production and consumption.
